Senior Finance Consultant/Management Accountant, Location: Flexible, with visits to meet clients and to the nearest BIC Innovation office | Salary £ £55,000 to £60,000
We have a dedicated team of finance and industry specialists working with food and drink sector clients as well as our in house finance team.
 
Due to a period of growth, we have vacancies for fully qualified accountants/management accountants to work with clients and/or to lead our finance team.  
 
BIC Innovation is the delivery partner for the Food & Drink Wales Scale Up programme and the Investor Ready Programme, working in partnership with the Welsh Government Food Division. The programmes work with ambitious Welsh Food & Drink businesses, helping them to scale up and secure finance.  An overarching theme is to improve the financial confidence of food and drink businesses, helping them to attract commercial investment and develop sustainable growth strategies. 
 

The Role

Responsibilities across the roles will include, although will not be limited to: 
 
  • Creating and managing close relationships with food and drink businesses, fund providers and other stakeholders
  • Supporting a portfolio of food and drink businesses to develop and implement robust financial systems which provide actionable management information 
  • Carrying out ‘investor ready’ reviews of clients identifying current strengths and weaknesses and recommending improvements;
  • Working with clients to achieve improvements in ‘investor readiness’;
  • Prepare business plans, financial models, management accounts, cashflow forecasts;
  • Due diligence  type work
  • Liaison with commercial finance providers.
  • Governance and company secretarial duties  such as board meetings, legal filings, employee share scheme administration, dividends, minority shareholder reporting and meetings, remuneration committee, annual general meeting
  • Line management responsibilities for BIC’s internal finance team

Scale Up Adviser. Flexible, with visits to meet clients and to the nearest BIC Innovation office | Salary - £50,000-£55,000
BIC Innovation is the delivery partner for the Food & Drink Wales Scale Up programme and the Investor Ready Programme, working in partnership with the Welsh Government Food Division. The programmes work with ambitious Welsh Food & Drink businesses, helping them to scale up and secure finance. Barriers to scale up include a lack of access to capacity, capital, skills, management information & insight and markets. Our scale up advisers work strategically with our food and drink clients overcome these barriers. 

The Role 
Responsibilities will include, although will not be limited to: 

  • Creating and managing close relationships with food and drink businesses, taking an account management approach
  • Working with nominated food and drink businesses on their strategic direction, clearly identifying their barriers to growth and helping to develop and implement plans to overcome those barriers
  • Creating and maintaining a wide range of food and drink supply chain relationships, such as food engineering, automation, packaging, ingredients, raw materials, logistics, sustainable energy providers who can help our clients with solutions to support their growth plans
  • Maintaining clear records of client engagement to support evidence of our programme delivery on behalf of Welsh Government
  • Work with colleagues and the marketing team to contribute written content covering topical issues for dissemination via our communication channels
  • Propose ideas for compelling peer to peer learning events/workshops/reference visits which will inspire food and drink businesses on their growth journeys
  • Being a ‘critical friend’ to key food and drink businesses, including reviewing and challenging business plans and financial models, production layouts and equipment, systems and processes, management information systems and HR strategies.

Product Specialist - Scale Up. Home based (there will be a requirement for regular travel across the UK as required) | Salary £ 40,000 - £47,500

BIC Innovation is a delivery partner within an Innovate UK led consortium that has been delivering innovation, growth, and internationalisation services since 2015.

Innovate UK Business Growth is a key part of the UK innovation agency’s investment in the innovative businesses that drive economic growth. It complements Innovate UK project funding with intensive, specialist-led support for such ambitious businesses.

To support this initiative BIC Innovation is seeking a Product Specialist for the Scale-Up offer under a fixed term contract of employment for a period of 18 months.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
 
  • Lead on the development of the Innovate UK Business Growth scaleup offer in line with the objectives set out in the Innovate UK Plan for Action/Corporate Delivery Strategy and Business Growth objectives 
  • Design, develop and lead appropriate structures within Innovate UK Business Growth overall support offer, to oversee the delivery of scaleup activity (e.g., Scale Up Programme, Non-Executive Director initiative)
  • Identify supporting tools/software, consortium training needs, manage any related procurement and provide strategic support on the development and roll out of new scaleup initiatives 
  • Work with the Innovate UK Business Growth Service Design and Engagement team and wider reach and engagement functions to ensure the scaleup offer is communicated clearly to internal and external stakeholders, and all materials relating to the support are consistent with Innovate UK Business Growth strategy 
  • Ensure that Innovate UK Business Growth scaleup offer is aligned and engaged with activity in other parts of Innovate UK 
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the scaleup ecosystem, working closely with partners and stakeholders 
  • Work with the Delivery Operations Leads to ensure that internal operational frameworks, processes and governance are in place to support the consortium to deliver scaleup activities
