John Taylerson MBA, FCIM Chartered Marketer is an experienced manager in Food, Drink and Agriculture, in Research, Development, Innovation, Marketing and Operations. He started his career in agriculture graduating from agricultural college to work at the Milk Marketing Board initially working with milk producers in Wales to improve milk quality, worked in the technical division managing data capture and measurement systems before moving to the commercial directorate working on milk pricing and marketing. Moving to Waterford Foods plc (now Glanbia) managing the marketing department in Manchester working on added-value milks. Then moved to Tetra Pak UK as Market Development Manager Dairy, introducing new product development setting up a new R&D facility at Reaseheath in conjunction with industry partners. Moved to The Milk Group as head of sales and marketing working with large and diverse dairy and food companies on milk marketing including specialist products from dairy and cheese sites owned by the organisation.
John became Head of Marketing at the Milk Development Council (now part of AHDB) where he introduced a school milk program that was match-funded by industry as well numerous projects on market development and research and development including work with Universities on dairy research on sport nutrition, health and diet.
As a consultant including working on a DEFRA project on barriers to innovation in the dairy Industry and HMRC as an expert witness on a sports drink case.
John became Director of marketing at MilkLink (now part of Arla) before starting his own food and drink business launching a start-up that put a new product on-shelf in John Lewis/Waitrose and other high street retailers. He works as a Senior Associate with BIC Innovation, supporting the NutriWales project and the Food Works SW project delivering one-to-one consultancy and mentoring as well as presenting and facilitating to larger groups.
