Well done John!

Well done John and Katie!

BIC associate John Taylerson and his daughter Katie recently took on the challenge of the Wye Valley Mighty Hike – a lengthy 26 mile hike through the glorious Wye Valley from Monmouth to Chepstow. Sounds idyllic, but let’s remember that this is a route with significant total ascent and descent and challenging terrain! So, we would all like to say a big well done to John and Katie for not only completing the course, but also for raising such a fantastic amount for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. BIC colleagues were therefore delighted to contribute to the good cause, especially if it meant we didn’t have to take on the challenge ourselves!

John and Katie say:

"Thank you everyone who have sponsored and supported us. Wyeustwo (a team of father and daughter) managed to complete the 26 miles of 3 plus climbs of 140 meters despite Dad’s feet,  the heat, the lack of a beer tent, the pub police stationed outside one pub en-route, Dad’s feet, the constant complaining from Katie about how embarrassing  Dad is asking at every stop "where's the beer tent?", Dad’s feet.. etc.

Anyway, we did it. It was genuinely not the stroll down the Wye Valley we thought it was going to be. The attrition rate must have been significant. The climbing on a hot day was compensated only by the fab views and the money we raised.

Thank you everyone!”

There’s still time to contribute so if anyone would like to donate please see the ‘Wyeustwo’ fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wyeustwo
