Congratulations Linda and Welcome Bara, Lorna and Rhian!
Firstly, we are delighted to announce that Linda Grant is now a shareholding director of BIC Innovation, becoming the first woman to join the board of directors. Linda will continue to head up BICs Food and Drink projects, whilst also bringing her wealth of expertise in marketing, project management and business development, alongside her strong commercial acumen to work with the board to help drive the business forward. Managing Director, Huw Watkins says:
“I am delighted that Linda will join the BIC Board and have no doubt that she will strengthen the Board with her insight, judgement and perspectives. Not only does Linda’s appointment address the gender balance on the Board, but more importantly, she brings a valuable skill set, a progressive attitude and professional outlook that will contribute to drive the business forward.”
Secondly, we would like to welcome 3 new staff members to the team, Bara Tankovski, Lorna Burton and Rhian Jones. This is as a result of new internal positions for existing staff, to improve programme delivery and efficiency and to support the delivery of Future Foods; a Welsh Government and WEFO funded collaborative project delivered with Aberystwyth University, with the aim to deliver world-class expertise in food science, technology and nutrition R&D.
In light of the recent appointments, Huw Watkins commented,
“Through our relationships with key stakeholders within the private and public sectors, commitment to quality and the passion of the team to succeed, BIC is well positioned to capitalise on the emerging opportunities being identified in our chosen markets. With a focused effort on driving and delivering our growth objectives, we are forging a pathway that will allow us to build on the foundations and values necessary to make a difference’
Lorna joins the team as our Operations Co-ordinator, based at our office in MSparc, Anglesey and will support Bill and the team to improve the delivery of key projects:
“I started at BIC Innovation on 20th August and the following week I eloped to get married to my now husband, Andy in Cumbria. However, I did return to BIC following my nuptials with a new surname. Apologies for having to change my email address!
My first impressions of BIC have been very good. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to learning more about all the programmes that I will be involved with and to working with Bill and the team. Exciting times ahead!”
Congratulations Lorna and Andy!
Based in our Pencoed office, Bara joins the Enterprise Europe Network team as Project Coordinator, following the transition of Anna in to a new marketing role within the company. Having worked in various countries and speaking 5 languages, Bara is well placed to work alongside the 6 EEN advisors to support the efficient and effective delivery of this key Innovate UK and EU sponsored programme. Bara says,
“Since earning my degree in Development Economics in Netherlands in 2012 I worked in Malta in logistics and marketing and subsequently moved to Wales and worked on EU funded projects at Cardiff Metropolitan University and British Council. I have always found EU funded projects interesting and extremely important as well as challenging. I am really excited to be part of BIC team and EEN project and to do what I’m good at”
And last but not least, Rhian has also joined the team based in MSparc, Anglesey as Project Administrator for the Future Foods Programme, she says:
“I am delighted to join BIC Innovation as Project Administrator for Future Foods, a project part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. I will be based at M-Sparc, Gaerwen and my working days will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays. My first impressions are very positive. I have had a warm welcome and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the BIC team and getting to grips with the intricacies of the role!”
“We have been very fortunate to attract a new wave of employees into the business, each bringing in valuable experiences to strengthen how BIC delivers its services to clients and beneficiaries alike. I wish all 3 the very best in their new roles and hope they enjoy the journey. I’m delighted to welcome them to the team.”
