We are regarded as market leading business consultants carrying out a range of support programmes throughout Wales. With offices on Anglesey, Aberystwyth and Bridgend we have clients across the UK and internationally. 

We work across multiple industries including the food and drink, manufacturing, healthcare and life science sectors. On behalf of Welsh government’s Food and Drinks Division, BIC is delivering the Investor Ready Programme which has been specifically designed to assist SMEs prepare for inward investment either in the short or medium term. Support is provided in a breadth of areas including improved management information, business planning, financial modelling and introduction to potential fund providers.

A pilot programme ran from October 2017 to March 2018 resulting in over £1m of inward investment. The pilot programme was very well received and Welsh Government have instigated a full scale programme for a period of 1 to 3 years. We are looking for a Senior Finance Consultant for delivery of high quality and timely commercial and financial support to help support a portfolio of Food and Drinks sector SMEs in South and West Wales. 

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager and working as part of the project team, the successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of high quality and timely commercial and financial support to help support a portfolio of Food and Drinks sector SMEs in South and West Wales. We are looking for a highly self-motivated, organised individual with excellent written and verbal skills and a proven track record as an effective team player.

The individual being sought should be a qualified accountant with several years’ industry experience.

The role is full time (37.5 hrs/week) fixed term appointment and based at BIC Innovation’s offices at SONY Technology Centre in Pencoed, Bridgend.

           

What you will do

You will be responsible for the delivery of the Investor Ready programme in South and West Wales. This will predominately involve supporting a portfolio of SME businesses in this area to deliver the Investor Ready project. The successful candidate will be expected to be proactive in identifying suitable businesses for inclusion in the programme.

  • You will be responsible for the project objectives and deliverables and report accordingly to the Project Manager.

  • You will carry out ‘investor ready’ reviews of clients identifying current strengths and weaknesses and recommending improvements;

  • You will work with SME clients to achieve improvements in ‘investor readiness’;

  • You will prepare business plans and financial models;

  • You will contribute and possibly deliver “finance for non-accountants” style workshops;

  • You will liaise with commercial fund providers.

 

Who you are

  • You will hold a relevant degree and be a qualified accountant;

  • You will have commercial and financial experience at senior level in industry;

  • You will have experience of Accounting at all levels from purchase invoice to statutory accounts;

  • You have proven ability to produce Business plans and financial modelling;

  • You will be comfortable dealing with third parties at all levels of seniority;

  • You will be able to acquire, analyse, and present information to a high level ;

  • You will be  and be able to use all relevant MS Office packages, computer literate with a widespread use of spreadsheets;

  • You have knowledge of Sage50, QuickBooks, Xero and similar SME accounts packages;

  • You ideally have knowledge of Government programmes alongside the food sector;

  • You preferably have previously dealt with taxation and grants work;

  • You can demonstrate personal qualities that include being self-starter, fast-learner, pragmatic with a flexible approach;

  • You will have the ability to work with team members based remotely and to interact with senior level executives;

  • You have strong client relationship management skills and be a confident presenter;

  • You are excellent in information sourcing and can utilise the internet fully to meet the requirements of the role;

  • You have previously worked collaborative projects;

  • By nature you are well organised, able to plan and execute projects and work to deadlines;

  • You are willing to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the Project Team as well as the wider organisation;

  • A competitive salary between £35,000 and £50,000 per annum, dependant on experience
